Kitten Vaccination Schedule in Canada
Kittens get a series of core vaccines starting around 6–8 weeks of age, repeated every 3–4 weeks until about 16 weeks or older. Your vet tailors the plan to your kitten's lifestyle and local rules.
Core vaccines
- FVRCP (feline herpesvirus, calicivirus, panleukopenia) — starting at 6–8 weeks, every 3–4 weeks until 16+ weeks, booster at about one year
- Rabies — around 12–16 weeks; required by law in Ontario and some other provinces
Lifestyle vaccines
- Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) — recommended for all kittens, then for adult cats who go outdoors or live with FeLV-positive cats
Also at kitten visits
- Deworming
- Flea and parasite prevention
- Spay/neuter discussion
- Microchipping
