Can Dogs Eat Mango?
Last reviewed October 2026 · Based on 2 published veterinary sources (listed below)

Yes — peeled, no pit
Yes. Ripe mango flesh is safe for most dogs in small amounts and contains vitamins A, C and fibre. Always remove the skin and the large pit first. The pit can choke a dog or get stuck in the intestines, and it contains small amounts of cyanogenic compounds.
How much
A few small cubes for a medium dog. Mango is sugary, so it should stay a treat.
Avoid
- The pit and skin
- Dried mango with added sugar
- Mango smoothies or desserts with xylitol
How to share it safely
- Treats, including fruit, should stay under about 10% of daily calories.
- Wash it and serve it plain — no sugar, syrup, salt or seasoning.
- Start with a small piece and watch for stomach upset over 24 hours.
- Skip it if your dog is diabetic, overweight or on a vet-prescribed diet.
