Can Cats Eat Dog Food?

Not as a regular diet
A cat stealing a few bites of dog food is not an emergency. But dog food is made for dogs: it usually has less protein and may lack enough taurine, vitamin A and arachidonic acid, which cats must get from food. Fed long term it can lead to heart and eye disease.
Tips for mixed homes
- Feed pets in separate rooms
- Put cat food up high where the dog can't reach
- Microchip feeders let only the right pet eat
